Shaheer Tarar is a media artist and geographer who pursues socio-political stories buried in time, space, sediment, and code, examining artifacts that shape how the world is seen and governed. His recent work includes net-art projects and experimental video games that trace how digital images are haunted by the infrastructures that produce them, and how those images go on to generate competing worldviews.
He is currently based in London, where he is a Lecturer on the Graphic Communication Design programme at Central Saint Martins.
Shaheer is a finalist for the 2026 Lumen Prize. He has exhibited internationally, including transmediale, Berlin (2026); Southbank Centre, London (2026); The Photographers’ Gallery, London (2026); Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (2025); Peckham Digital, London (2025); InterAccess, Toronto (2019); and Trinity Square Video, Toronto (2019).
He has lectured and presented his research at The Digital Conference at King’s College London; Seoul National University; the University of Toronto; OCAD University; the National Autonomous University of Mexico; and the Reel Asian Film Festival.
